In this post, I’m going to give you five tips on how to start a business with no money.

So you want to start your business but have no money?
It’s okay, I completely understand because I have been there too.
And in this post, my tips are specifically discussing an online business but this can also help if you have a brick and mortar as well.
1 | UNDERSTAND YOUR WHY
My first tip on how to start a business with no money is to understand your why.
Why do you want to start this business?
- Is it because you want to turn your passion into profit?
- Or may be you want to start a side hustle that can eventually replace your 9-5 income?
- Or maybe you can’t stand being told what to do and want to become your own boss?
- Or it can be a woo-woo reason like you want to be a leader and make a difference.
Whatever your reason is, you have to make sure you are really passionate about it.
You also have to ask yourself if you’re willing to make major sacrifices to make this happen?
Your passion and why is the foundation for what you do and your why is going to get you through those tough times when no one is listening to you.
And at the beginning, NO ONE IS LISTENING TO YOU.
Your WHY is going to get you through when you have no subscribers, no views, no money, no nothing.
Sorry to sound all negative but it’s true.
If you don’t have passion for what you do, then you’re just going to quit.
2 | CREATE A PRODUCT/SERVICE
Next thing you need to do is to create a product/service.
In the online world you can create a digital product like a course, ebook, or online workshop or you can create a physical product like a t-shirt, a mug, a book, or anything else.
As for creating a service, you can be a coach/consultant where you charge people to help them with something you’ve accomplished for yourself and are very knowledgeable about.
Or you could provide ‘done for you’ services such as graphic design, makeup artist, or fitness coach.
Whether you decide to do a ‘done with you’ service like coaching, or a ‘done for you’ service you can charge good money and create a sustainable business.
3 | PRODUCE CONTENT
So you’ve figured out why you want to start a business and you’ve figured out what you’re going to offer.
Next is you have to figure out how you’re going to market your business and gather attention to your brand.
The best way to do that online is by producing content.
In the online world, one of the best ways to attract people is through content marketing.
So pick your content type (written, video, or audio) and you should start creating content that provides MASSIVE VALUE for your audience.
Your content needs to do three things: educate, entertain, and inspire.
Whether you write an article on your blog or create a video for YouTube, or start a podcast, you provide value to your audience by educating, entertaining, or inspiring them.
When you create content more people will know you, like you, and trust you, and then eventually they’ll buy from you.
4 | DISTRIBUTE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Now once you create the content, you need somewhere to distribute it and that’s where you can use good ol’ social media.
We live in one of the greatest times where we can create content and use social media to do whatever we want professionally in our lives.
I think more people aren’t building their brand using social media because they think it’s too good to be true.
But we have to remember that whatever social media platform you choose to use to distribute content, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or Snapchat.
They’re all FREE.
But even though you can market your business for free on social media the only way you’re going to get real results is…
5 | BEING CONSISTENT
When you look at the most successful people in the online space, the number one thing is they are hella CONSISTENT.
“You cannot be successful without consistency.”
And one of the biggest hacks you can do to be more consistent is by batching your content and batching is just a practice of doing your content creation in BULK.
So, you can batch your YouTube videos, batch your photos for social media, batch your captions, batch everything!
It’s a great way to save time and get ahead of the game.
Okay brand builders, those are my five tips on how to start a business with no money.
Just to recap, you first need to know why you want to start a business, then create a product/service. Next you need to create content and distribute it on social media and lastly you need to be consistent.
