Have you been thinking about starting your own brand but have no idea where to start?
Well in this blog post, I’m giving you the low down on how to build an epic personal brand.

1 | SET CLEAR GOALS
Now you may want to start a personal brand to get your dream job or you may want to become your own boss, either way, before you embark on this journey, you need to really know yourself and be clear on what you really, really, want to do.
Some questions to ask yourself are:
What do you want to be known for?
What are you crazy passionate about?
What are your special gifts and skills?
Why do you even want to build your own brand?
Building a brand that allows you the opportunity to help others, improve lives and do work that truly matters, is a really BIG deal.
That’s why it’s super important for you to nail down your WHY, get to know yourself on a deeper level and be honest about what you want to do before you pursue a path the requires you to achieve something bigger than yourself.
2 | DISCOVER YOUR PERSONALITY
The second thing you need to do is, DISCOVER YOUR PERSONALITY.
A big part of personal branding is your personality.
You need to know who you are before you express that to the world and how you differentiate yourself from the sea of sameness is YOU.
So that means you need to embrace your inner weirdo because guess what, we’re all weird in our own special way.
For instance, as for my personality, I’m very outspoken, fun, and creative but I’m also very motivational (well, at least I try to be) and I care so much about you guys because all I want is for you to own your greatness and be your most authentic and amazing self, online and off.
So with my personality, I’m a mix of Oprah, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Deepak Choprah.
I’m a black woman who’s hella talented, I’ll drop a good F-bomb here or there.
Plus, I’m an empath and I’m a spiritual gangster.
So you need to figure out what makes you unique what is your personality and embrace creative expression at the max.
3 | SHARE YOUR STORY
Number three is to share your story.
You need to understand that as a personal brand, people need to know, like, and trust you before they will ever decide to buy from you.
Sharing your story makes you relatable and human and it’s how people connect with you.
My story is filled with hardship and perseverance, being a domestic violence survivor, dealing with racism, sexism, overcoming the odds and so much more.
I’ll probably make another video talking to you more about my story but this video is about you.
How can you share how you turned your pain into power, how did you make your mess into your message?
You have to understand that there are thousands of people who do what you do.
Whether you’re a writer, a coach, a graphic designer, a fitness trainer, a makeup artist, a real estate agent, whatever.
The only thing that separates you from everyone else, is your STORY.
Okay, so this is just the first part of a three-part series.
In part two, we’re going to discuss your brand assets but it’s time for the question of the day.
